American Express has launched a new set of hotel offers which gives registered cardholders up to S$495 in statement credits with the following hotel chains:
These limited-quantity credits are now open for registration via the AMEX Offers portal, and valid for use up till 30 September 2023.
Do note that at the time of writing, only the IHG, Millennium Hotels & Resorts and Pan Pacific Hotels Group offers are visible on the AMEX Offers portal. I assume Hyatt and Marriott will be added soon, so keep checking.
AMEX Offers are opportunities to earn bonus miles or Membership Rewards points, or discounts in the form of statement credits. These are available to Platinum, True Cashback, and KrisFlyer cardholders, and can be found in the “Offers” section of the AMEX app or web portal.
Registration is required, and some offers may be targeted. These are not applicable to DBS, Citi or UOB AMEX cardholders.

Registered American Express cardholders can now enjoy the following offers:
Chain | Offer | Charge | Cap | |
Spend | Credit | |||
Hyatt (1x use) T&Cs | S$300 | S$60 | 🧑 | 12K |
IHG (1x use) T&Cs | S$300 | S$75 | 🧑 | 10K |
Marriott (1x use) T&Cs | S$400 | S$80 | 🧑 | 15k |
Millennium Hotels (2x use) T&Cs | S$300 | S$90 | 🖥️ 🧑 | 25K |
Pan Pacific Hotels (1x use) T&Cs | S$400 | S$100 | 🖥️ 🧑 | 10K |
🧑= In-person at hotel | 🖥️= Online |
Registration is on a per card basis, and each offer can be used once per card (except Millennium Hotels & Resorts, which allows two uses). If you have multiple AMEX cards, you can register both and enjoy the same offer as many times as you have cards; I see these offers available on my AMEX Platinum Charge, AMEX Platinum Reserve, AMEX KrisFlyer Ascend and AMEX HighFlyer Card.
Transactions must be charged to the registered card by 30 September 2023 to qualify for the offer; any transactions charged after this date will not be eligible, even if your stay took place within the promotional period.
A few pointers to note:
There is no need to clock the entire spend in a single transaction.
For example, the Hyatt offer requires a cumulative spend of S$300 to trigger a S$60 credit. You could do this in three separate transactions of S$120, S$100, and S$80. In fact, the transactions need not even be at the same property; you could combine spending across different participating properties within Hyatt.
Offers for Pan Pacific Hotels Group and Millennium Hotels & Resorts can be used online or in-person.
For all the other offers, payments must be made in-person at the front desk or participating outlet.
If payments must be made in-person, any rates which are prepaid online will not qualify for the offer (provided payment is actually taken online; I’ve stayed on “prepaid” rates that weren’t charged until I arrived at the front desk). That’s a problem, since prepaid rates tend to be the cheapest, but fortunately there’s a workaround, assuming the hotel’s in Singapore.
Look for the rate you wish to book on the website, then email the hotel and ask them to hold it for you. You can then head down to the hotel to swipe your card and make payment in advance of your actual stay. This wouldn’t work for overseas hotels, obviously, but it might be worth contacting them to see if something can be worked out.
Credits should appear on your billing statement within 15 days from qualifying spend, but may take up to 90 days from the offer end date.
With travel restrictions a thing of the past, it’s good to see that American Express has expanded these offers beyond just Singapore- you can redeem them as far afield as Australia, Japan and New Zealand, depending on chain.
AMEX Offers can be stacked, which is good news for those who previously registered for the 5 ON 25 offer (Spend S$120, get S$60 back). If they meet a minimum spend of S$300, they will essentially enjoy S$120 back (S$60 from the 5 on 25 offer, S$60 from the Hyatt offer). However, I believe some would much rather split the bill onto multiple cards (no idea if they still allow that), since S$60 off S$120 is better than S$120 off S$300!
You can also get further value by taking advantage of ongoing dining discounts offered by the hotel. For example, IHG is offering 20% off F&B under its Savor Spend Earn offer, which runs till 31 December 2023.
If you were to dine at, say, Man Fu Yuan at InterContinental Singapore, you could enjoy S$375 of food for S$225 (S$375 will be discounted 20% to S$300, which triggers a further S$75 statement credit from AMEX).

To get more value out of these offers, consider booking luxury privileges rates offered by platforms such as HoteLux.
Luxury privileges rates price the same as the hotel’s best flexible rate, and include free breakfast, US$100 hotel credits, room upgrades and early check-in/late check-out where available. These are fully refundable and charged by the hotel at the time of check-out, so there won’t be any issues triggering the credit.
World and World Elite members can enjoy a complimentary HoteLux Elite membership, valid for 3 and 12 months respectively.
American Express has launched a new set of hotel offers, valid for charges made up to 30 September 2023. Registration is required, so be sure to visit the AMEX app and select the offers you’re interested in ASAP.
As a reminder, the Hyatt and Marriott offers aren’t live yet, for whatever reason, so stay tuned.
